DOX BOX 11 IS PREPARING TO ANNOUNCE CALL FOR FILM ENTRY END OF SEPTEMBER
With the launch of preparations for the fourth edition of DOX BOX 11, team prepares to announce the Festival’s Call for Film Entry by end of September 2010, to receive applications to participate in the festival which will be held in the first week of March 2011 in Syria.
DOX BOX is an annual International Documentary Film Festival, held in Damascus, Homs and Tartous, organized by PROACTION FILM with the patronage of the National Film Organization in Syria, DOX BOX screens a number of the finest, highly recommended international documentary films.
Associated with the festival, DOX BOX continues to develop its industrial activities such as the Campus, under the supervision of some of the world’s brilliant, well-known documentary professionals (some of last edition’s Campus professors: Patricio Guzman,Tue Steen Muller, Peter Badel, … and more) . In addition to seminars and forums that introduce Documentary Film in all its various details, given by senior professionals in this industry, like filmmakers, producers and financiers.
After the success the sidebar (Voices from Syria) has gained last year, it continues this year, in the fourth edition of DOX BOX in an initiative to revitalize the Syrian films and filmmakers, as there will also be (DOX BOX – Soura) award dedicated to the Best Syrian Documentary Film, presented in collaboration with SOURA for Art Production.
In its last editions, DOX BOX hosted a number of world’s specialists and professors in the documentary film worldwide, such as the masters Patricio Guzman, D.A. Pennebaker, in addition to a number of Arab filmmakers like the Tunisian Hichem Ben Ammar, Syrian Omar Amiralay, Algerian Malek Bensmaeil, and the Lebanese Simon el Habre.
DOX BOX has proved in all the past editions, and since starting in 2008 its success in attracting large number of audience, and gaining trust from many International documentary professionals, for what it has of professionalism, aside from team and development spirit, that it became the biggest Documentary Film Festival among the Arabic-speaking countries.
