Malek Bensmail's film "China is Still Far", DOX BOX 09's opening night film, recieved the highest award of Munich DokFest in Germany.
Among the festival's selection were some of the years best documentries, such as "Burma VJ" (DOX BOX 09 closing night film), "Rough Aunties" Kim Longinotto's latest, "Les Plages D'Agnes" the new film of Agnes Varda, "The One Man Village" (Simone El Habre, DOX BOX 09 official selection), Rene (Helena Testikova's outstanding masterpiece, DOX BOX 09 Best of Fest) and others.
the Jury's comment on the film reads: "A visually powerful film that sheds new light on the complexities of a post colonial country and its people who are caught at the crossroads of a future that is still unfolding and a contested past of languages, memories and histories. A film that nurtures hope with its warmth, beauty and harmony"
