"Voices of Women" is a sidebar program in DOXBOX 09. A showcase of creative documentary film screenings that focus on stories of women whose "voices" have made a change in their reality, be it their families, societies or countries.

In addition, Question & Answer sessions will follow some of the screenings, and in a public seminar the audience is invited to discuss with filmmakers, critics and sociologists the realities of women in our societies and to learn about female empowerment and gender equality issues, and the relevance of documentary film to them.

    - These screenings are free of charge
    - These screenings are subtitled in Arabic and English
    - These screenings do not run for the audience award.

    - These screenings will be repeated in Tartous and Homs

The Workshop "Gender & Cinema" is part of "Voices of Women" sidebar, where 9 young female journalist from Denmark and the Arab world have joined Ulla Jackobsen, Mehri Holliday and Anita Goth over 9 days for a workshop on gender and cinema, producing collectively the festival daily bulletin Point of View.   POV is produced in English and Arabic.  You can download all 6 issues here:
